ASSESSING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT WRITING ABILITY OF THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMK NEGERI 4 DENPASAR IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2016/2017 THROUGH GUIDED QUESTION AND ANSWER

The undertaking of the present study was to find out the degree of writing skill of the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 4 Denpasar in academic year 2016/2017 which was assessed through Guided Questions and Answers Test. The present study made use of ex post facto research design with descriptive analysis. The data required of this present study were gathered by means of administering questions and answers test to 40 samples of this present study which were determined through random sampling technique with random sampling. The obtained data were analyzed by using norm reference measure of five standard values. The result of the data showed that there were 12.50% samples who got excellent achievement, 20.00% samples who obtained good achievement, 37.50% samples who gained sufficient achievement, 22.50% samples accomplished insufficient achievement, and 7.50% samples who attained poor achievement. From the findings, it could be clearly figured out that there were 70.00% samples that were successful in writing descriptive text and there were only 30.00% samples that failed in writing descriptive text. Thus, it could be concluded that degree of writing skill of the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 4 Denpasar in academic year 2016/2017 were sufficient.
